This time in we are looking for 8th T20 World Cup Winner 2022. In this post we will be covering all the winners and runner ups of year wise World Cup held in past including defending champions i.e. Australia the T20 World Cup Winner 2021.
T20 World Cup is being played once on every 2 years since the inception of this tournament in 2007. But After 2016, due to Pandemic it was not played for 4-5 years and Now after things has become normal ICC has organised 2 back to back T20 World Cup in Year 2021 and Year 2022. We all know that Australia was the winner of T20 World Cup 2021 held in last year but in this post we will jog your memory and remind you every team who has already won this tournament in past.
T20 World Cup Winner 2007 – INDIA
In 2007 first edition of this tournament was played in South Africa. Final of the tournament was played between India and Pakistan. India was playing under the Captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. India has won this match by 5 Runs in the final over of the tournament. India has lost only one match in the whole tournament against New Zealand in the Super 8 matches.
Shahid Afridi was the Player of the match. Matthew Hayden got the Top Scorer Award and Umar Gul has been rewarded for Most Wicket taker in the tournament.
T20 World Cup Winner 2009 – PAKISTAN
After loosing from India in 2007 T20 World Cup, Pakistan managed to Won the 2nd Edition of the Tournament in 2019. This world cup was hosted in England. Final Match was played between Pakistan and Sri Lanka where Pakistan managed to defeat Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. Pakistan has lost overall 2 matches in the tournament, 1st against England and 2nd against Sri Lanka in Super 8 Matches.
Tillakaratne Dilshan was the Player of the match. Tillakaratne Dilshan got the Top Scorer Award and Umar Gul has been rewarded for Most Wicket taker in the tournament.
T20 World Cup Winner 2010 – ENGLAND
In 2010, England become the first team from Non-Asia who has won this tournament. Final Match was played between England and their most rival country Australia. England managed to defeat Australia 7 wickets. West Indies has hosted this tournament in 2010. In this tournament England has lost their very first match but after that they managed to not to lose any further matches
Kevin Pietersen was the Player of the match. Mahela Jayawardene got the Top Scorer Award and Dirk Nannes has been rewarded for Most Wicket taker in the tournament.
T20 World Cup Winner 2012 – West Indies
West Indies registered their first win of final match of the tournament against Australia. Sri Lanka has hosted this tournament. West Indies defeated Australia by 36 runs in the final match.
Shane Watson was the Player of the match. Shane Watson got the Top Scorer Award and Ajantha Mendis has been rewarded for Most Wicket taker in the tournament.
T20 World Cup Winner 2014 – Sri Lanka
In 2014, Bangladesh has hosted the T20 World Cup Tournament. Sri Lanka has managed to won this tournament by playing final match with India. Virat Kohli won the best player of the series and the top scorer of the tournament. Ahsan Malik and Imran Tahir won the highest wicket taker awards.
T20 World Cup Winner 2016 – West Indies
In 2016 T20 Cricket World Cup was played in India. West Indies has won this tournament by playing final match with England. West Indies won this match by 4 wicket. Virat Kohli again won the player of the series award. Tamim Iqbal won the highest scorer and Mohammad Nabi won the highest wicket taker of the tournament.
T20 World Cup Winner 2021 – Australia
In 2021, T20 Cricket World Cup was hosted in Oman and UAE. Australia managed to won this tournament for the very first time. Final match was played between Australia and New Zealand and Australia won this cricket match by 8 tickets. David Warner won the award of Player of the series. Babar Azam won the award of top run scorer of the tournament. Wanindu Hasaranga won the highest wicket taker award for the tournament
